Set up Thai voice

The app includes recorded Thai clips, so the speaker button and practice audio work without installing a system voice. A Thai text-to-speech voice is only used as a fallback for text that has no recorded clip.

The typing click sound (correct/incorrect feedback) is separate — it uses your device's audio directly and needs no voice installed. This page is only about spoken Thai pronunciation.

Windows

  1. Open Settings → Time & language → Language & region.
  2. Under "Preferred languages", add ไทย (Thai).
  3. Click Thai → Options, then install the Speech feature.
  4. Restart your browser so it picks up the new voice.

macOS

  1. Open System Settings → Accessibility → Spoken Content.
  2. Next to "System voice", open the menu and choose Manage Voices.
  3. Find Thai and download a Thai voice (for example, Kanya).
  4. Restart your browser.

iPhone & iPad

  1. Open Settings → Accessibility → Spoken Content → Voices.
  2. Tap Thai and download a voice.
  3. Reopen the site in Safari.

Android & ChromeOS

  1. Open Settings → System → Languages & input → Text-to-speech output.
  2. Open your engine (usually Google Text-to-speech) → Install voice data.
  3. Download a Thai voice.
  4. Reopen Chrome.

After installing

After installing a Thai voice and restarting the browser, text without a recorded clip can also be read aloud. Recorded clips continue to be preferred when available.

Note: desktop Chrome on Linux (and some minimal setups) may not include a Thai voice by default. Install one at the OS level as above, or use a browser/device that already has one.
